Beginner Ballet Classes

Intermediate Open Ballet Class

Online classes are $15 per class. *10% of all class proceeds to go towards the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service.

This class serves as an introduction to movement, and ballet technique. We will focus on transfer of weight, and extension and lengthening, as learning which muscles to use, when and for what! 

 

Here you will experience the invigorating bodily sensations that emerge through this practice. The combinations introduce the techniques and sharpen a sense of coordination, to realign your focus for an hour. 

 

These classes are designed to let you know how great your body can make you feel! They are physical and intricate as well as energetic. 

This class focuses on transfer of weight, moving through the space and lengthening and extending whilst following classical class structure and advanced classical technique. Encouraging the body to lengthen, extend and release throughout the class will enable it to feel both relaxed and energised at the same time and experience the invigorating bodily sensations that emerge through this practice. 

 

This class takes its style from Liat's training with the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel and so will focus more on accentuating and strengthening each individual's understanding and way of moving rather than attempting to mimic traditional uniformity. 

Combinations are both highly physical and intricate and are designed to empower the body and the mind. The class is designed for experienced dancers, ex-dancers, and professionals. 

Liat's classes are the highlight of my week! I loved ballet as a teenager and I am having so much exploring it again in her classes. She really brings her unique experience and insights to help us explore ballet in a more freeing way than how it's been taught to me before. I'm now feeling stronger and more in tune with my body when dancing. The intermediate class is an exhilarating challenge for me but I love that I can also bring friends to the beginner class to share the ballet magic.

Whatever your level of ballet experience and skill, Liat’s classes are the perfect way to build strength, focus on and develop your technique and exercise your creative expression. Liat strives to ensure that each of her students is getting the most out of her classes, and strikes a great balance between teaching new exercises each class, while also allowing enough time over the course of a few classes to really learn and grow some exercises. The classes are also very casual and always have a welcoming and happy vibe, so it’s easy to turn off to the outside world and enjoy an hour and a half of dancing!

I came to Liat Kedem’s Open Ballet beginners class with limited dance training, and I have found the classes to be amazing exercise, and fully inclusive for people of all skill levels. Liat covers the fundamentals of ballet and builds on skills we learn each class with care and encouragement, plus she chucks in elements of yoga and pilates for good measure! It’s fun! Full recco!
